Helpful Tips For Planning Your Dinner Party's Seating Chart

Last updated 6 years ago

When planning dinner party seating for your special event, the goal is to make everyone relaxed and ready to eat and converse. Try to arrange the tables around a dancing area and place the DJ at the opposite end. Remember to seat families and friends together at different tables, and put the hosts or close family or friends at the head table. It’s thoughtful to seat elderly guests and parents with small children closer to the bathrooms.

The following video recommends using place cards to show the guests where they will be sitting. On each card write a name and that person’s table assignment. You can set up the place cards at the entrance to your event, or on the actual tables, so your guests can easily find their seats.
